For all my female viewers out there, I’d like to encourage you by quoting Bruno Mars’ song:
You’re amazing just the way you are.
This means you don’t need to buy things you don’t want with money you don’t have to impress people who don’t care. Your beauty is not defined by the face in the mirror or the glamour on your social media. Your beauty is defined by the Lord.
Whatever you do, whether it’s purchasing new products or dolling up for date in town, I want to encourage you to not define your beauty on it. If you do, then the converse applies, that is, without all these things, you’re ugly. A million times no! I quote the Apostle Peter on this matter:
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. [1 Peter 3:3–4]
I wanna encourage you to derive your beauty from God, because as Jesus is the essence of beauty, so are you in this world. Because you are His beloved daughter, greatly blessed and highly favoured, you can live confidently without concern of others judging you.
I say this out of honour and respect for you. I don’t know if this constitutes being a feminist, but I just want to encourage all young women out there to keep pursuing the King of your heart. His name is Jesus, and His banner over you is love. He is the strong tower who will fight for you. He is the provider of all good things.
May you live in this truth, and that whether you adorn yourself a lot or not at all, may your confidence and strength not be contingent on your adorning but on the inner self, whose identity is found through and through in Christ. May your security not be found in how you look or what you accomplish but on the goodness of Christ and what He has accomplished.
Your value is found in who you are in Christ, not your decoration. Though the aesthetics aren’t bad in and of themselves, remember that your value is way more than the externals.
